On the island of St Martins, in the Isles of Scilly<\/a>, with its pure white sand beaches and turquoise sea is not the first place you\u2019d think of to find a couple living and working to produce some very special jewellery. Evocative of the sea and the beach Fay Page with her partner Rob make beautiful necklaces and bracelets giving you a chance to keep a memory of your holiday in Cornwall.<\/p>\n

UrlaubCornwall<\/strong>: What brought you to the Isles of Scilly?<\/p>\n

Fay Page<\/strong>: Rob worked for a number of years skippering one of the ferries that take holiday makers between the five inhabited islands that make up the Isles of Scilly. It was in 2001when I decided that London city life wasn\u2019t for me and moved down\u2026it was a life changing moment.<\/p>\n

UrlaubCornwall<\/strong>: Where do you produce your jewellery?<\/p>\n

Fay Page<\/strong>: We moved to our two bed roomed, converted animal shelter, in 2005 and created our workshop in the garden in 2007. It\u2019s a beautiful place built out of local granite nestling in a sheltered spot near the island quay.<\/p>\n

\u00a0UrlaubCornwall<\/strong>: Where does your inspiration for your work come from?<\/p>\n

Fay Page<\/strong>: Our silver jewellery reflects the sea as well the flora and fauna of the island. We produce pendants with clusters of shimmering fish, charm bracelets with tiny silver cowrie and whelk shells.<\/p>\n

UrlaubCornwall<\/strong>: Living on a small island 28 miles out in to the Atlantic must be challenging how do you cope with the isolation?<\/p>\n

Fay Page<\/strong>: Scilly is remote and getting things people on the mainland take for granted is often difficult, but we\u2019ve learnt to use what we have rather than buying new. Cornwall\u2019s temperate climate means that we can be almost self sufficient in vegetables all year round. When we go to the mainland we realise that our lives are more straightforward and less stressed!<\/p>\n

UrlaubCornwall<\/strong>: What are you plans for your business?<\/p>\n

Fay Page<\/strong>: We can\u2019t really expand too much due to manpower and studio space available on St Martins, but we do take commissions and can ship pieces abroad. We find many German visitors to this part of Cornwall are keen to take home a memory of their stay.<\/p>\n
